Stephen A. Smith On Steph Curry: “Offensively, I Could Make The Case He’s In The Same Conversation As MJ.”

2 Min Read

2x NBA Steph Curry is pretty good at the game of basketball.

Coming out of Davidson, it took him a few years to find his footing in the league, mostly due to some ankle problems that held back his development early on.

But over the past 10 years, Curry has blossomed into one of the game’s All-Time greatest players, to the point where his abilities are being compared to the GOAT himself, Michael Jeffrey Jordan.

In a segment on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith made a rather bold comparison, sharing his view that Curry may be on MJ’s level offensively.

“Offensively, I can make a conversation that Steph Curry is in the conversation of MJ. We have never seen a shooter this phenomenal. Ever. He didn’t have the aerial assault, the aerial arsenal that Michael Jordan had. Couldn’t finish at the basket the way Michael Jordan could or whatever.

There’s not a single player that we look at and we say ‘Michael Jordan couldn’t do that.’ We didn’t see anybody else do anything that we felt Michael Jordan couldn’t do offensively. Michael Jordan couldn’t shoot like that.”

While calling Steph the greatest long-distance shooter ever is no longer a hot take, comparing the guy’s offensive game to that of Jordan’s certainly raises some eyebrows.

And while Steph doesn’t have as much in his bag as Jordan did, his ability to shoot and make three-pointers is truly unmatched and sets him apart from anybody else.

The impact he makes on the floor and the way he has changed the sport as a whole is absolutely unprecedented.

Steph, who turned 33 in March, is looking to remind the world of his abilities next season when he hopes to lead the Warriors to another deep playoff run.

It will be fin to witness his heroics once again.
