Anthony Davis has been the talk of the town since he exited Game 5 of the Golden State Warriors vs. Golden State Warriors series. After Kevon Looney hit him in the face, everybody was concerned about Davis and a potential concussion.

He avoided the concussion on Wednesday night, but the Lakers decided to run more tests today to see where they really stand with Davis. Meanwhile, people reacted to this situation, and Stephen A. Smith starred in a questionable moment when he joked about Davis’ potential injury.

“I’ll be damned if I wasn’t laughing,” Smith said on First Take.

“I’m like concussion! CONCUSSION!” Smith continued. “I thought the NFL season was over. I understand concussions can happen in other sports. Boxing. UFC. If the collision is fierce enough, I guess it can happen in basketball, too.”

It’s wild that this is the conversation on a national talk show in 2023 the day after a player looks like they may have been knocked out of a playoff game due to a concussion. pic.twitter.com/SCrMDthGpz

This was funny for Stephen A., but things are much more serious than this. A concussion isn’t a joke, and they’re not exclusive to one sport. Yes, they are way more common in the NFL, but it’s clear that Davis was hit in the head and the Lakers, and the league, needed to make sure everything was fine for him.

Many fans reacted to Smith’s words, calling him out for taking a potential injury that lightly, and looking very irresponsible in the process.

Insane!! Forearm/elbow to the temple from a 7footer is no joke. Any Boxer knows it’s not only where you get hit but it’s the shots you don’t see comin that can knock you out. Being disoriented & the way AD looked is concerning

Nothing surprises me with @stephenasmith nowadays. He just wants the attention.

One fan said that Smith acted like he couldn’t do anything when he got a stinger.

Somebody said that Brian Windhorst acted professionally and didn’t add anything to the conversation.

Respect to Windhorst. Wanted no part of that convo

Another one mentioned other two figures that acted childish when addressing Davis’ injury.

Sadly it wasn’t just SAS i expected this from him but Shaq and Charles last night smh you would think former NBA players would understand the force a 7ft tall man can have swinging his elbows around.

Someone said this can only fuel the Lakers’ desire to win.

This was completely unnecessary from the veteran analyst, but he thought it was a good idea to talk about it the way he did it. Well, NBA fans weren’t having any of that.

Shaquille O’Neal And Charles Barkley Were Blasted For Laughing At Anthony Davis

Just like they did with Smith, NBA Fans had the same reaction when Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley laughed at Anthony Davis leaving the game in a wheelchair. These things are pretty serious and people should take the situation with more seriousness.

Smith isn’t new to controversy, but sometimes he takes things a little bit too far. Hopefully, he can do better and save the bad comments for another day. Meanwhile, Davis appears to be ready for Game 6, trying to seal the deal and send the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals.
