Stephen Curry recently joked and said that the Lakers eliminating the Warriors in the 2023 playoffs has helped his golf skills

Curry won the ACC Golf Tournament during the summer

The second-round elimination was the earliest Curry and the Warriors had lost a playoff series since 2014

The 2023 Playoffs didn’t go according to plan for Stephen Curry and the Warriors, as they couldn’t get past the lower-seeded Lakers in a second-round matchup. This was the first playoff series they lost before the Finals since 2014.

The elimination meant that the players would have an extended offseason, something Curry used to hone his golf skills before participating in the ACC Golf Tournament. He won the same as well and has now credited the four extra weeks of the offseason for his success.

“I want to thank the Los Angeles Lakers for their contributions to me winning my golf tournaments this summer because I got a four-week head start on golf training camp.”

Curry absolutely loves golf and is seen playing almost every offseason. He is up there among the best NBA players that play the sport, even joking about retiring from basketball early to play golf full-time.

Stephen Curry Focusing On The Court For Now

The Warriors are still a competitive roster and will push towards bringing home a championship in 2024. Though their roster won’t have people calling them championship favorites, a roster with Curry on it will always be dangerous.

The addition of Chris Paul could be a hit or a miss for the franchise, as they’ll definitely miss the scoring punch Jordan Poole brought to the table. But replacing scoring with the stability and court awareness of CP3 could lend better to what this veteran group needs to do to succeed.

Curry will turn 36 by the end of next season, so his basketball mortality is on the horizon. But with his shooting ability, Curry could play in the league for another decade. It’s only a question of when he’s ready to leave the hardwood and join the golf course.
