It wasn’t too long ago that the Golden State Warriors had the best home record in the NBA, but the defending champions have hit the wall at Chase Center as well now. The game against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday gave Golden State a chance to end their 3-game losing streak at home, and for quite a while, it seemed they would do it.

The Warriors led by as many as 17 points at one stage against a Nets team without Kevin Durant and were up 106-93 with less than 7 minutes remaining in the game before collapsing in embarrassing fashion. The Nets went on a 27-10 run to win 120-116, and after the game, Stephen Curry kept it real on their struggles.

Curry: “No matter what the reason is, losing is a terrible feeling. We hate it …[We] need to do something about it…Nobody is thinking we can’t do it. That’s our challenge, to not be in the situation where every other night we are explaining why we didn’t get the job done.”

Curry isn’t used to this, and he isn’t interested in explaining every night why they came up short. He expects better from his teammates, and a lot of them failed to show up in this one. Steph had called out his team before this as well, as he stated they haven’t shown that they’re intelligent enough or play hard enough to string together a couple of good games.

Steve Kerr Says The Warriors Are Not Good Enough To Close Games

The loss dropped the Warriors to 23-24 as they continue to be inconsistent this season. Steve Kerr stated after the game that they were not good enough to close games, as they failed to get the job done in the clutch once again.

Steve Kerr: “We’re 23-24 for a reason. We’re not good enough to close games. We’ve got to get better. We make strides and it feels like we’re getting close and then we have a lapse.”

It does feel like they take a step forward and then take one back. They went 3-2 in their 5-game road trip, which was a big improvement from their play on the road earlier this season but that good stretch has been sandwiched between these poor showings at home.

They have got the Memphis Grizzlies next, and that is sure to be a hotly-contested encounter. The Warriors had beaten the Grizzlies without Curry earlier this season, and there was a lot of chirping going on in that one, so you better believe Memphis will be out for revenge.
