Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has plans for seasoned veteran Chris Paul who will play for the Bay area franchise for the first time in his career.

Speaking on ESPN’s NBA Today, Kerr had an elaborate explanation about Paul’s role with the Warriors.

“I watched Steph and Chris work out together. We’ve talked about our team. One of the things I told Chris was, we have to be more controlled this year. Last year, we were number 29 in the league in turnovers, in other words, second worst in the league, but we had the fastest pace in the league. That’s not a great combination. And one of the things I love about Chris is that he controls games. And, so I told him we need his ability to control the game at key times for us and he knows he’s going to adapt to some of the stuff we do.”

He further added how Paul would be playing with a little more pace with Curry on the floor.

“So I kind of like the idea of finding a better balance this year and being more under control, but still being, you know, really lethal offensively. And then of course, you know what Chris does in pick and roll and his midrange game, he always gives you a chance in every possession to get a good shot. And he’s, you know, one of the great point guards of all time. So we’re lucky to have him.”

Last season, veteran forward Green was one of the key personnel facilitating the team’s plays, but with Paul in the mix, his coordination with Curry and Klay Thompson will be key for Golden State.

This season, the Warriors will look to run it back with their trio of Green, Klay, and Curry. Paul, on the other hand, is on the hunt for his elusive silverware. Whether he can indeed manage to win one with the Warriors remains to be seen.

Steve Kerr Says The Warriors Will Figure A Way To Play Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, And Chris Paul Together

Earlier, Steve Kerr spoke about the selection conundrum that will bother Golden State. However, he seemed positive that he would be able to figure out a way to make things work for the squad and put out a solid team for the start of the season.

“All of that will happen in training camp,” he told Mercury News. “Until we get everyone on the floor, we won’t be able to assess what’s best for our team and how everything is going to look. But I’m very confident that it’s going to work out.”

Last season, Chris Paul averaged 13.9 points, 8.9 assists, and 4.3 rebounds with the Phoenix Suns. While some people have suggested that Paul could come off the bench, it appears Paul isn’t taking that idea seriously.

Only time will tell if Kerr can figure out a backcourt that won’t clog the famed Warriors’ offense.
