Steve Kerr On Kevin Durant: “When You Factor In Everything, Size, Speed, Athleticism, I Think He’s The Most Talented Basketball Player I’ve Ever Seen In My Life”

Despite all the controversies around Kevin Durant and his tenure with the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr has nothing but good things to say about his former players, who took the Warriors to win two consecutive NBA titles. KD left the team last summer to join the Brooklyn Nets amid controversies with his teammates but he’s still a recurrent topic in the Bay.

During a recent conversation with The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, Kerr talked about all the good players he played with, against and all the ballers he managed, coached and faced as a head coach. Kerr revealed that Durant was the best out of all the players he’s seen in his life.

“I would say Kevin (Durant) is … when you factor in everything, size, speed, athleticism, I think he’s the most talented basketball player I’ve ever seen in my life,” Kerr said.

“It was more just a level of basketball that I’m not sure had ever been reached before.”

Kerr has very good memories from his time coaching KD, stating it was very valuable time and he enjoyed their time together.

“He was very coachable. He was a sponge, especially the first year, he wanted to learn a new style,” Kerr said. “I think he really enjoyed playing the way we played, and he was really easy to coach. When a star makes it easy, for a coach to do his job, he just allows everything to click. And so, that first year, I think one of the reasons we were so dominant was because we had that dynamic across the board between Steph, Klay, Draymond, Kevin, we had it all lined up and everybody was on board and clicking, and it was a smooth ride.”

Kerr played with great players like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Tim Duncan; was the general manager of the Phoenix Suns that had Steve Nash, and coached great players like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. He’s seen a lot of great players but for him the answer is clear. Kevin Durant is the most talented player he’s ever seen.
