The Brooklyn Nets Have Traded DeAndre Jordan, Four Second-Round Picks, And $5.78M To The Detroit Pistons For Jahlil Okafor And Sekou Doumbouya

The Brooklyn Nets are a team that missed out on winning the championship this season, and they have made some changes around their core 3 stars on the roster.

The latest of these changes revolves around DeAndre Jordan. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that the Brooklyn Nets have traded DeAndre Jordan, four second-round picks, and some cash to the Detroit Pistons in order to get back Jahlil Okafor and Sekou Doumbouya.

It seems as though the plan for the Detroit Pistons is to buy out DeAndre Jordan’s contract, which will allow him to become a free agent. That is good news for teams in need of solid depth options. Adrian Wojnarowski stated that the Los Angeles Lakers would be “a serious contender” to sign him once the buyout happens.

While the Brooklyn Nets felt as though they needed to move on from DeAndre Jordan, it seems as though the Los Angeles Lakers envision a place for him on their roster. DeAndre Jordan averaged 7.5 PPG and 7.5 RPG on 76.3% from the field over the course of the 2020-21 season, and he could definitely be of use as a depth option. It remains to be seen where DeAndre Jordan will end up signing, but it looks as though the Lakers may get another former All-Star on their roster.
