When it comes to basketball in New York City, the Knicks aren’t exactly a glowing example of functionality.
The past 24 hours, in particular, have been brutal for the franchise — and points to a larger streak of disaster for them.
In the midst of a 13-36 record, the Knicks got blown out by 20+ points at home to the Memphis Grizzlies. That same night, the team ended the game with a fight — with Elfrid Peyton shoving Jae Crowder to the ground towards the end of the fourth quarter.
In the midst of the embarrassing loss, Knicks fans started chanting “sell the team” during a timeout, which was followed by owner James Dolan kicking one young fan out of the arena.
Of course, this was all followed by a controversial comment after the game by Knicks forward Marcus Morris. He described Crowder as having “female tendencies” and it rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way.

To add to all of this, the Knicks’ visitor locker room apparently had no hot water, as explained by Grizzlies guard Ja Morant.
“This is beyond me,” Morant told reporters after the game. “I’ve taken cold showers before, but at least I had water pressure.“(I’m) gonna go to the hotel and take another shower.”
And, of course, there’s their (less serious) social media blunder, in which they sent emojis, meant to honor Kobe Bryant, in the wrong order.

It’s been a hell of a time for the Knicks, to say the least. These past 24 hours have just been packed full of dysfunction and embarrassment. The thing is, it’s been reflective of their reality the past few years.

With so much wrong, and the toxicity stemming from the top, the organization has a lot of work to do if they want to turn things around. As a franchise with a loyal fanbase, world-class arena, and central location, they should be among the best teams in the NBA.
Instead, they are the epitome of dysfuntion.
