This generation of sports fans has really been quite blessed to get to watch some of the greatest players who have ever lived in action. Whether it be Tom Brady in the NFL or the Big 3 in men’s tennis or Lionel Messi in soccer, we have witnessed greatness in seemingly every sport.

Two other all-timers who we all have been blessed to witness are LeBron James and Tiger Woods. LeBron recently made history, when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the all-time leading scorer in the NBA and he was showered with praise by his peers for that incredible accomplishment.

Woods, meanwhile, announced his return from a 7-month absence by confirming his entry into the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles and it was inevitable that he’d be asked about LeBron breaking the record in his pre-tournament press conference. Woods, a Lakers fan, was full of praise for James and his amazing longevity.

(starts at 4:02 mark):

“As far as the LeBron record, what he accomplished is absolutely incredible, just the durability, the consistency, and the longevity. I mean I grew up watching Kareem here, never saw him play in Milwaukee, but he was the Cap, that’s all I remember, the Showtime Lakers and watching Cap run down there with the goggles and hitting the sky hook.”

“That record we never thought it would be surpassed. But what LeBron is doing, but also the amount of minutes he’s playing, no one’s ever done that at that age, to be able to play all five positions, that’s never been done before at this level for this long.”

Woods, who has dealt with so many injuries, would know how amazing it is for Lebron to keep going strong despite all the mileage on his body. The record was considered by many to be unbreakable but LeBron is going to easily go past even the 40,000 mark, which is ridiculous.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Praised LeBron James For His Actions Off The Court

Kareem handled LeBron breaking his record with a lot of class and was in attendance when James surpassed him against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There has been some friction between these two in the past and Kareem admitted he was at fault for the lack of relationship between them.

He has now been full of praise for all that LeBron has accomplished, not just on the court but off it as well. He commended LeBron for his activism and pointed out how great it is that James has sent a whole school district to college by paying their tuition. LeBron has set a very good example for athletes of the future and you’d hope they would follow his example.
