Tracy McGrady says most NBA players do not love the game of basketball

T-Mac points out how many players drastically improve in contract years to get more money

McGrady is disgusted with this approach to the game of basketball

Playing in the NBA is the dream for most basketball players out there. There’s no doubt that the league rewards talented players with a huge amount of money.

Earning millions can be one of the motivating factors for players, but according to NBA legend Tracy McGrady, if that’s the only factor, it’s not the correct approach to the game of basketball.

“I agree to that,” McGrady said in a recent interview with GQ Sports. “You have some guys that are talented, and they do it because the money is good. In my era, you used to have guys that make it to the league, and they’ll be s****y for two or three years, but on their contract year? Oh, they’re gonna have their career highs, right? And then they just fall back, and they get their money, and then they relax.

“You don’t love the game if you approach it that way. It’s been going on since I entered the league, and it’s still going on.”

While this is not the correct way to play in the NBA, T-Mac reveals it has been going on since his era. Even some of the current NBA players have mentioned this issue in the league.

Patrick Beverley And DeMar DeRozan Called Out NBA Players For Not Loving The Game Of Basketball

Tracy McGrady just became the most recent person to call out several NBA players not loving the game of basketball.

Prior to him, DeMar DeRozan had an NSFW rant about several players suiting up just to earn money. DeMar DeRozan made that claim when LeBron James hailed Bronny James as better than many current NBA players.

Just like the Chicago Bulls star, Patrick Beverley flat-out claimed 50% of NBA players didn’t love basketball. It’s sad to see the league heading to this state. Hopefully, the new generation of players can change this soon and show love for the sport. That’s their bread and butter.
