Tracy McGrady Opens Up About His ‘Rocky’ Relationship With Adidas: “I’ve Been With Adidas For 25 Years, I Think We’re Coming To An End. The Treatment That I’ve Gotten From Them Over The Last 10 Years… I Deserve Better.”

Tracy McGrady’s time in the league was short but memorable for NBA fans. During the prime of his career, he was one of the best scorers in the league. His rivalry with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is something that fans cannot forget even today.

But like many other NBA stars, T-Mac’s career was ruined due to injuries. One injury after another made him lose the magic that he had in his game and ultimately he retired from the league in 2003.

Although McGrady might have failed to win any NBA Championships in his career, he still managed to secure a lifetime contract with Adidas back in 2002. It came after the sneaker brand failed to complete negotiations with Kobe Bryant for a lifetime deal.

Anyway, one might wonder if they wouldn’t want to make the same mistake with T-Mac and that’s what the company tried back then. But now it seems like this partnership between the two is on the verge of collapsing. In a recent interview, McGrady openly talked about how he believes he deserves better and how the company hasn’t treated him well over the last decade or so.

“It’s rocky. I have been Adidas for 25 years – I think we’re coming to an end. Tweet it. Put it on Instagram. Whatever you want to do, I don’t give a s**t. Because the treatment that I have gotten from them over the last ten years, it is what it is. I deserve better. So yeah, I think it’s coming to an end. And this is why I have this attitude because when I started OBL, I was told that I couldn’t pull this off by Adidas. So that’s why I feel that way.”

T-Mac is one of the best athletes that Adidas ever managed to sign to its brand. Moreover, his shoe line with the brand has been immensely successful for the brand as well.

But as it turns out, the two sides seem to be in a rocky phase, as revealed by T-Mac himself. Although Adidas hasn’t released a statement about the same, if McGrady believes the partnership is about to end, there has to be some truth behind it.
