Kobe Bryant would have turned 45 years old today, a heartbreaking reminder of the tragedy that took him away from us way too soon in 2020. As fans and players sent in tributes for Kobe on this special day, his wife Vanessa had the simplest yet most touching tribute to share.

“Happy 45th birthday, baby. I love you always & forever. #82378.”

Vanessa’s comments section shows some of the biggest names in pop culture and basketball wishing her well. From Lakers’ governor Jeanie Buss to reality TV star Kris Jenner, a lot of people gave strength to Vanessa on what had to be a challenging day.

Vanessa Bryant Has Overcome A Lot

NBA fans often talk about the impact of Kobe’s passing in 2020, with the community still reeling from that loss. It’s a very hard fact to accept, even though three and a half years have passed.

If it’s hard for fans, it has to be impossible for Vanessa Bryant, who not only lost her husband but also her daughter. She has dealt with various issues since Kobe’s passing, including companies using the news of the tragedy to further their financial ambitions or even needing to sue Los Angeles County because on-site officers circulated pictures of Kobe and Gigi’s bodies after their helicopter crash.

Vanessa will see the Lakers unveil a statue in honor of Kobe in August 2024, a fitting tribute to arguably the greatest Laker of all time.
