There aren’t many teams assembled in NBA history that can go on par with the 2010s dynasty of the Golden State Warriors. In their prime, the Warriors even created history by establishing a 73-9 record, which is still the best record in the history of the league.

During an 8-year span, the Warriors advanced to six NBA Finals and won four championships. The Warriors dominated the game so much that even opposing players like Giannis Antetokounmpo admitted that they would love to build good habits like the Dubs to succeed in the league.

Apart from current NBA superstars, even future draft prospects respect the Golden State Warriors. Victor Wembanyama recently spoke highly of the organization during the 2010s.

Via Sports Illustrated:

Wembanyama cites the Warriors of the 2010s as a model for the type of basketball that inspires him: They won, they enjoyed themselves and they did it in style.

“Taking, like, bad or weird shots, it isn’t new for me,” Wembanyama says. “You can ask any coaches I’ve played for. They’ve seen me do crazy stuff. Sometimes they thought I was crazy.

“Something I’m proud of in my life is that I’ve kept [going] this whole time. And it required a lot of mental strength.”

During their time as the best team in the league, the Warriors certainly played an enjoyable brand of basketball, and Wembanyama would love to play a similar style of basketball when he gets drafted into the NBA.

Are The Golden State Warriors Tanking For Victor Wembanyama?

Victor Wembanyama is expected to be the undisputed number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The French phenom has everything in his arsenal to become the next big thing in the NBA.

Keeping that in mind, it’s obvious that every team wants to get a shot at drafting him and finding a cornerstone player for years to come. At one point in the season, many thought that the Golden State Warriors were doing the same after losing several games in a row.

The Warriors are currently the 9th seed in the Western Conference with a 29-29 record. So if the Dubs are genuinely trying to tank for Wembanyama, they are in a great position to do so.
