Anthony Edwards was visibly frustrated and upset that he blew his three-point attempt in the final seconds of Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets, and he let that show.

The Minnesota Timberwolves guard didn’t stick around after the ball bounced off the rim, and he ran straight into the locker room, much to the amusement and chagrin of fans.

There is no doubt that the Wolves had to work hard in the playoffs against firm favorites Nuggets. And while they did eke out a single win, they were no match for Nikola Jokic and Co. as the latter closed out a 4-1 series win.

As is the norm, the postgame usually sees players meet at the center court and exchange hugs or handshakes, but Edwards wasn’t clearly keen on it. And while his move is understandable, maybe a show of sportsmanship wouldn’t have hurt.

The Wolves made the playoffs as the eighth seed, earning them a tough matchup in the form of the Nuggets. Now, they have an entire offseason to figure out how to better their 2022-23 run.

Anthony Edwards Was A Vital Part Of The Minnesota Timberwolves Offense, And He Delivered

The Wolves may not have made the second round of the playoffs, but Anthony Edwards has proved plenty this season, and the numbers speak for themselves.

The regular season saw him average 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, and he ramped up the numbers in the playoffs, notching up 31.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.

More importantly, Edwards’ spunk rose to the occasion when he refused to be swept by the Nuggets. Speaking to the media after their Game 4 win, he said it was personal that he didn’t want to be known as a player who was swept.

“It’s 3-0, you gotta win one more game before you send us home,” said Ant. “I was just telling the truth, they still gotta win one more and we got a chance to win another game and come back to Minnesota. So, I take pride in — I didn’t want to say I got swept. I don’t ever wanna say I got swept in my career. I definitely took it personally tonight.”

While the anger and dejection were surely reasons why Edwards ran away soon after he missed a game-winner, the Wolves will take heart from the fact that they had a good season and a promising core that can definitely push for a better performance next year.
