  • Dusty Rhodes was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006
  • An old video popped up online a few years ago, showing Rhodes’ incredible basketball skills
  • Rhodes nailed the game-winner in the game on the video

NBA players are some of the most fit athletes in the world. They can perform incredible feats of physical achievements, like soaring through the air for a monster dunk.

This is exactly what a basketball represents, but not exactly what WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes looks like. Rhodes, otherwise known as “The American Dream” was a professional wrestler from 1967 to 2010, and he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.

Rhodes was an overweight wrestler, weighing 275 pounds on average during his career while standing just 6’2″. If you looked at Rhodes, you certainly would not think of him being a basketball player.

This was proven to be incorrect when a video hit the interview showing Rhodes not just playing basketball but dominating the competition.

Fans React To WWE Hall Of Famer Playing Basketball

Dusty Rhodes, the Hall of Fame wrestler, showcased his basketball skills in a video that went viral on social media a few years ago. This was a video from the 1980s when Rhodes was wrestling for the National Wrestling Alliance, also known as NWA.

It showcases not just Rhodes’ fearlessness to fire the long ball and play like the great Larry Bird, but it also showcases other wrestling legends in the game like Sting and Lex Luger. This game was held at the Charlotte Coliseum, and fans couldn’t believe how good a man of Rhodes’ size could play.

Here are a few of the fans’ reactions to the video of Dusty Rhodes playing basketball:

Another fan posted a different video of the same game, where they explained the game was between the NWA wrestlers and the Charlotte Police Department. They also explained how Rhodes hit the game-winning layup… Of course, he did. He’s “The American Dream.”

Dusty Rhodes is the perfect example of why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. He was an incredible athlete, no matter the sport, and he proved looks can be deceiving.

Denver Nuggets superstar and now NBA champion, Nikola Jokic, has also been judged harshly due to his size, and he has now proved the doubters wrong.

“They didn’t believe in the fat boy,” Jokic said. “It seems like it worked out. Don’t bet against the fat boy!”

With the Dusty Rhodes video making fans go crazy on social media, we have to ask one question: is there any other wrestling star that plays basketball and is good at it?

This is something fans should keep an eye out for, and if they find any other video of a different wrestler hooping it up, share it on social media, and maybe that, too, will go viral.
