Zion Williamson is one of the best young talents in the league, and there’s no doubt that he is a superstar-level player when he is on the court. He is an elite rebounder and interior scorer, and it is hard or impossible for most defenders to guard him 1-on-1.

The biggest issue for Zion Williamson has been his poor availability throughout his young career. He is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, and unfortunately, there has been a negative update recently. According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, Zion Williamson is not close to returning for the New Orleans Pelicans.

“There is no return for Zion in sight for the Pelicans,” said Brian Windhorst.

This is definitely concerning to the New Orleans Pelicans, who have slid all the way down to the 9th seed during his absence. Though they will still have Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum, their ability to make the playoffs may be in jeopardy without Zion Williamson.

As of right now, Zion Williamson is averaging 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG for the New Orleans Pelicans. There is no doubt that they miss his production, and hopefully, he will come back sooner rather than later.

Zion Williamson’s Return Timeline Is Open-Ended

Even though Zion Williamson doesn’t look like he’ll come back anytime soon as of now, the situation could always change. Previously, Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that the timeline for the young star’s return is “open-ended.”

“The timeline for his return is very open-ended,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “After the All-Star break when he’s re-evaluated again, they’ll have a view at just how long it might be. But these hamstring injuries are tricky, I think when you’re doing the ramp-up on your way back there’s always a level of caution and not pushing too hard because you could have a setback. We saw that with Devin Booker earlier in the season. He had the first 29 games of the season and they were All-Star-worthy. He was voted a started, 60% from the floor. And of course 26 points a game… but they have to be prepared now to go another significant period without him in the lineup.”

There is no doubt that Zion Williamson has the talent to eventually be one of the best players in the league. However, he needs to be able to stay on the court to get to that level.

Hopefully, we see Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans figure things out. Star injuries have definitely been an issue for them, and perhaps they’ll have better luck in that department going forward.
