Zion Williamson’s recent controversy following his alleged affair with porn star Moriah Mills has seen the value of his rookie card take a nosedive.

Per a ClutchPoints report, the value of his PSA 10 Panini Prizm Silver rookie card has gone from $705 to $460, according to data from Card Ladder. Also adding to the scandal was his significant absences from the games due to his injury issues.

During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Williamson’s rookie card had a high value primarily due to his skill set and his potential of being the generational superstar that he was pegged to be.

It’s not been the greatest few days for the New Orleans star after he was accused by Moriah Mills of allegedly having an affair with her. The latter pulled no punches as she went on a tweeting spree exposing murky details of their relationship that tarnished the forward’s reputation.

Given the bad press, he’s already garnered, the rookie cards value taking a hit might just be the start of the dominoes that are about to fall against Williamson’s favor.

Zion Williamson’s Stepfather Defends Him Amid Ongoing Furor

The 22-year-old had some support coming in from his stepfather Lee Anderson who has publicly defended the Pelicans superstar.

“That’s my son, and I love him…Believe half of what you see, and nothing you hear…I stand by my son 100%.”

It depends on how these allegations impact his on-court career. Williamson’s injury history has been a bane. In the 29 games he played this season, he averaged 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG. He is clearly All-Star material when he’s on the floor, but it’s unfortunate that it’s not a regular occurrence.

Recent reports have suggested that the team is visibly frustrated with Williamson and even considering shipping the forward. “Again, they’re really trying to appease him with a big deal shake-up or the training staff, but it’s in their minds in some capacity. And you know, they’ve worked through some trade scenarios or what the return for him would be,” Madison said on the Locked On Pelicans podcast.

It will be interesting to see whether the team decides to follow through with trading Zion Williamson at some point.
