The New Orleans Pelicans and Zion Williamson don’t have the best relationship right now, and this could end with the player leaving the franchise after four years full of injuries and a couple of bright moments.

Pelicans insider Jake Madison recently shared details of the current relationship between Zion and the team, revealing that the front office has felt mad at the player and has thought of trading him away (around the 11-minute mark).

“Based on my conversations with people with the team, there are times when they feel very fed up with Zion. Not enough to necessarily want to trade Zion Williamson away or actively start to do that.

“Again, they’re really trying to appease him with a big deal shake up or the training staff, but it’s in their minds in some capacity. And you know, they’ve worked through some trade scenarios or what the return for him would be,” Maddison said on the Locked On Pelicans podcast.

Maddison explains that while Williamson has said the right things to the public, his actions are very different. He doesn’t seem to be that interested in spending time around the team during the offseason, and that could be another reason why the Pels could be looking to move him.

The Pelicans appear to be losing their patience with Zion and many think they could make a big decision this offseason and move him away. Williamson has been mentioned in potential trades, including one that sends him to the Miami Heat, another one that swaps him for Ja Morant, as well as the option that keeps him on the roster for another season.

Zion And Brandon Ingram Have Clashed With The Team More Than Once

This isn’t the first report saying that the Pelicans are unhappy with Zion’s behavior. He and Brandon Ingram haven’t had the best behavior when dealing with injuries, and the Pelicans aren’t happy with that.

The 2023 NBA offseason could see some big changes, and not only from free agents. Many players could change teams via trade, and just like Damian Lillard, Zion could be on his way out of the team that first drafted him to the league.

He’s now involved in controversy after a porn star called him out on social media. Zion isn’t living the best moments right now, and it doesn’t seem like it’ll get better anytime soon.
