Danny Green Has No Bad Feelings For The Lakers: “You Know, They Gave Me A Contract That I Never Dreamed That I Would Ever Get, And Playing In A City I Never Thought I Would Play For And Winning A Championship.”

Danny Green was viewed as a huge acquisition for the Lakers in the summer of 2019. His 3-and-D playstyle was exactly what LA needed to pair alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

And while he was certainly an asset, he was never able to perform well when it mattered most. Suffering a brutal cold streak in the postseason, Green became the main headline for critics and fans who just wanted the guy to start playing better.

Now, with the new season just a few weeks out, Green isn’t even on the roster, being sent to Philadelphia in a series of quick-succession trades. Despite this unfortunate end, he doesn’t harbor any hard feelings towards his former team.

“There’s no love lost at all. You know, they gave me a contract that I never dreamed that I would ever get, and playing in a city I never thought I would play for and winning a championship,” said Green in a chat with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports. “It just so happens that you can’t maintain that; that’s hard to do that. But I got a championship, I got a ring and I did get an unbelievable contract. I couldn’t dream as a kid—never thought I’d be making that in my life.”

It is true that Green accomplished more in Los Angeles than most players dream of. He got to play a significant role in one of the biggest markets in sports on the path to a title.

The 33-year-old sharpshooter, now in Philadelphia, has a lot of adjustments to make with his new team. Fortunately, it looks like he’s got the experience and peace of mind to make it happen.
