Anthony Edwards On Facing Off Against Steph Curry: “I’ve Been Watching Him On TV For A Minute And It Ain’t Fake. It Ain’t Fake News.”

There are few people in the NBA more explosive on the basketball court than Stephen Curry. The 3x Champion, and 2x NBA MVP, is the greatest shooter in basketball history, and one of the most familiar names in sports.

Still, going from a spectator of Curry to a competitor facing off against him can be pretty surreal. For Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards, he spoke in awe about the Warriors superstar following his first meeting against the guy, in which he dropped a whopping 36 points.

“I’ve been watching him on TV for a minute and it ain’t fake. It ain’t fake news, it’s real. He’ll just take on, dribble and pull up from deep and shoot like it’s nothing. I was watching him warm up and was like, ‘That’s crazy.'”

Indeed, the hype surrounding Curry is no fluke. His insane shooting and scoring ability hasn’t just transformed the Warriors, it has also transformed the NBA. Because of Steph, the league has emphasized long-distance shooting, and small-ball has become normalized.

Even now, without his co-star and running mate, Klay Thompson, the 32-year-old is finding ways to stay effective and keep his team afloat, with season averages of 28.4 points, 6 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Who knows what else the guy will be able to do before it’s all said and done?
