Stephen A. Smith and Kevin Durant have been two of the most famous names in the NBA this week after their controversies. The ESPN analyst engaged in a little battle with Russell Westbrook and his wife after the Washington Wizards point guard recorded a historical 35/21/14 triple-double.
KD was part of a big moment with actor and comedian Michael Rapaport that ended with the latter calling his lawyer to sue the Brooklyn Nets players. Well, now these two controversial personalities have crossed paths, with Smith reacting to Durant’s strong messages to Rapaport. He used misogynistic and homophobic racial slurs in a series of messages he sent to Rapaport following his infamous and incredibly short interview with Charles Barkley in ‘Inside the NBA.’
Everybody had something to say about it and SAS wasn’t the exception. On Wednesday’s edition of ESPN’s First Take, the veteran called out Rapaport for sharing messages of a private conversation, violating a lot of codes with his decision.
“Let me call out Michael Rapaport. Bro, you violated all types of street code. You had no business making it public, exposing private messages from Kevin Durant, period.”
Moreover, he went after KD, calling him immature for his response to the comedian. Smith knows that Durant could have handled things better and not show this facet of him that nobody wants to see (2:06 mark).
“Kevin Durant comes off as highly sensitive and immature. I happen to like Kevin Durant, I think he’s a good dude. I think he’s the kind of person who has his heart in the right place. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know better. He is bigger and better than this.”
Smith wasn’t happy with this situation as he was as shocked as the rest of the NBA community. Now he’s called out the Oklahoma City Thunder magic duo of Westbrook and Durant in consecutive days. This man is on fire right now and we wonder what’s next for him.
