Draymond Green Understands He Could Be Traded If Warriors Get LeBron James

Draymond Green knows the reality of NBA trades—if LeBron James is available, no one on the Warriors' roster is untouchable except Steph Curry.

Draymond Green is no stranger to trade rumors, but he knows better than most that anything can happen in the NBA. With the Golden State Warriors actively making moves before the trade deadline, including their recent acquisition of Jimmy Butler, Green has found himself at the center of speculation.

The latest buzz suggests that if the Warriors make a run at acquiring LeBron James, Green could be part of the deal, whether that happens before the deadline or in the offseason.

“I don’t think it’s very unsettling at all. We know what we signed up for. Every single one of us in that locker room knows what we signed up for playing this game and being a part of this business.”

“So I don’t think anybody walks around like… The reality is, if they’re calling for LeBron James, everybody in that locker room except Steph Curry should shut up and know that you could be traded.”

“So if they’re calling superstars, there’s not a thing anyone in that locker room could say outside of 30.”

“So to walk around unsettled because they’re reaching out for superstars—you can fool yourself if you want to think that you can do something about that. Your stress ain’t going to help you at all. And so, I don’t think it’s very unsettling at all.”

Speaking candidly on The Draymond Green Show, the four-time NBA champion addressed the reality of trade season and how no one is truly safe—except for one player. Green’s self-awareness is refreshing.

Despite his history with the franchise, his defensive impact, and his undeniable role in Golden State’s dynasty, he understands that when a superstar like LeBron is on the table, no one is untouchable except Stephen Curry.

While James has a no-trade clause, meaning he has the ultimate say in any move, history has shown that even the most surprising deals can happen. Just look at the Dallas Mavericks, who recently sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis—a move that stunned the entire league.

At 34 years old, Green is no longer the same player he was during the Warriors’ peak years. Injuries, age, and his hefty four-year, $100 million contract extension have somewhat diminished his trade value, but he remains an intriguing piece for teams looking for a defensive-minded veteran with championship experience.

For now, Green remains with the Warriors, but he isn’t ruling anything out. The team’s recent trade for Butler signals that they are serious about making a push for contention. Warriors owner Joe Lacob has made it clear that a .500 record isn’t acceptable, and he’s willing to shake things up. That means Green’s future remains uncertain—not just at the deadline, but heading into the offseason as well.

Whether a trade materializes now or later, Green knows that the business of basketball is ruthless. He has given everything to the Warriors, helping them win four championships and establishing himself as one of the best defenders of his era. But loyalty only goes so far in the NBA.

If Golden State decides that moving him is the best path forward, Green won’t be blindsided. He understands the reality of the game: when superstars are in play, anything is possible, and he could be part of the next big shake-up—whenever it happens.
