Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players in the history of basketball. Then again, for some reason, he’s also one of the most disrespected superstars to ever live.
That was in full display when he won his first MVP, with people claiming that he was the worst MVP since Steve Nash because he ‘only’ averaged 23.8 points per game.
Curry clearly heard all the noise, as he came back even better next season and averaged an absurd 30.1 points per game (league-high) to go along with 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.1 steals (also a league-high), and 5.1 three-pointers per game on 50/45/90 shooting splits.
Not only did the Golden State Warriors break the record for most wins in the regular season (73-9) and make it back to the NBA Finals but also, Curry was the first unanimous MVP in NBA history.
His numbers were so ridiculous that he even finished in 4th place to win the Most Improved Player Award. He could’ve won Scoring Champion, MVP, and MIP in the very same season.

But perhaps the thing that stands out the most about this season is the fact that Curry posted nearly identical numbers last year.
At age 32, the greatest shooter of all time averaged a career-high 32.0 points per game with 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and a career-high 5.3 three-pointers per game on 48/42/91 shooting splits.
Curry did all that with an injured tailbone and with Andrew Wiggins as his best scoring sidekick, all while some people claimed that his legacy was on the line.
Somehow, someway, we’re starting to take Curry for granted. He changed the game of basketball forever and there will never be another player like him. So we better appreciate him while we still have the chance to.
