Stephen Curry’s parents, Sonya and Dell Curry have often been seen together at NBA games, cheering on Stephen Curry or his brother Dell Curry. However, it looks as though they are going their separate ways.
TMZ Sports has recently reported that Sonya Curry has filed for divorce from Dell Curry. The couple will be separating after many years together, but it seems as though Sonya Curry has decided that this route is best.

55-year-old Sonya put in the paperwork back on June 14 in North Carolina … according to court records. A court official tells us the divorce is still ongoing.
Details surrounding the reason for the split are unclear — we’re working on it.
The couple — whose other son, Seth, plays for the Philadelphia 76ers — had been dating for decades and were officially married way back in 1988.
Karen Mizoguchi and Elizabeth Leonard of People Magazine shared a statement from Sonya and Dell Curry in their recent article on the divorce. The statement essentially asked people to respect their privacy, and that is entirely reasonable.
“After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family’s continued happiness,” Sonya and Dell, 58, tell PEOPLE. “We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.”
There’s no doubt that sometimes divorces are necessary. However, it is likely that both parents will remain close to their sons. Hopefully, the situation can go down without any complications, and that all parties remain amicable throughout.
