The Boston Celtics acquire Josh Richardson via trade from the Dallas Mavericks this season. While he didn’t really impress during his time with the Dallas Mavericks, Josh Richardson is a capable slasher and a passable shooter, that provides important wing depth for the Celtics. While Richardson had a contract that was set to expire at the end of the season, it seems as though the Celtics want to keep him around.
Shams Charania has recently reported that the Boston Celtics and Josh Richardson have agreed on a one-year extension, that will put his total earnings over the next two seasons at $24 million.
Richardson opted into the 2021-22 season ($11.6M) prior to his trade from Dallas to Boston, and now tacks on another year with the Celtics. https://t.co/TlVfCfnxvk

It definitely looks as though the Boston Celtics rate Richardson highly, and perhaps he can be a great backup for their star wing duo, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The Boston Celtics have been active thus far this offseason, making a flurry of trades, extending some of their existing players, and acquiring some solid free agents. There is no doubt that the Boston Celtics are looking to create a balanced roster around their stars, and it looks as though they believe that Richardson can be part of that in the near future.
The Eastern Conference is tougher this season, but the Boston Celtics certainly have the talent to do well. Hopefully, we see a bounceback from this season, and it looks as though Brad Stevens is hard at work make sure that happens.
