During a time that may be Chris Paul’s best chance ever to win a Championship, the dude just can’t catch a break.

In the early rounds of the playoffs, CP3 suffered a shoulder injury that compromised his game for at least several games.

And just as the Suns are steamrolling through the West playoff bracket, he is down again due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Since Paul is vaccinated, early thoughts were that he would only miss a few games.

But the most recent report is that CP3 has developed a fever, meaning he could be out for much longer than anticipated.

Yahoo! Sports Chris Haynes reported Paul is quarantining in Los Angeles and isn’t showing any symptoms after “testing positive for COVID-19.”

However, sources have informed The Republic, Paul has been experiencing a fever.

Bizarrely, this report coincided with news by Adrian Wojnarowski that the team is “optimistic” their star point guard could return as early as Game 3, which is scheduled for Thursday.

Woj just now on ESPN, said there is “some optimism” Chris Paul could potentially be out of health and safety protocols sometime in LA, possibly as soon as Game 3. 👀 pic.twitter.com/HvcJ1urpsD

If Paul is indeed battling a fever, it seems doubtful he’d be cleared to play as early as Thursday. Nevertheless, the exact details of the situation remain unknown, and no official timetable has been released for Paul’s return/

The only thing that is certain now is that Phoenix is looking forward to having their star veteran back out on the court.
