Jared Dudley Says Anthony Davis Will ‘Take The Torch’ From LeBron James Next Year

Anthony Davis didn’t have the best season with the Los Angeles Lakers, struggling to find his touch in his first season as an NBA champion. Injuries and inconsistency prevented him from confirming he’s one of the best players in the association.

The next one will be a revenge season for the Lakers, Davis included. The player received plenty of criticism after failing to help his team defend the NBA championship.

With LeBron James aging, it’s time for AD to step up and become the leader the Lakers need. That won’t be a problem, according to Jared Dudley. The veteran player claimed Davis will take the torch for the Lakers to try to lead them to the promised land.

Via Silver Screen and Roll:

“We salute (LeBron). People say he’s slowing down, and it’s natural to slow down a little bit,” Dudley said. “That’s why you have Anthony Davis. That’s where he has to take the torch, and that’s where he will take the torch next year.”

“Big summer (for him) taking care of his body, getting to the right point to where we need him for him to lead and get back to a First-Team, All-NBA player,” Dudley said.“That’s what we expect. That’s what he expects from himself”.

This offseason will be important for Davis. He needs to recover from injuries to help his team compete like they did last season. Even though people like to criticize Davis, the rest of the league knows that the Lakers will be a threat for everybody if this man is healthy.
