Superteams have been a common topic around the NBA in recent years. So when we talk about them, it’s mandatory to mention the Miami Heat that teamed up LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the Golden State Warriors that landed Kevin Durant to join Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
These teams were expected to take the league by storm, which they did to some extent. Yet, none of them could three-peat, although they were very close to do so.
NBA reporter Ben Stinar sparked a big debate on these superteams and how they compare to legendary squads like the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls and the Lakers that won three straight titles led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant.

Bro stop. It was easier back then because nobody jumped ship after one year or requested a block buster trade out. It’s a domino affect in the NBA today. A 3 peat today is much harder than Jordan or Shaqs 3 peat.

I'll never understand why some try to say the LeBron/Miami situation = the KD/Warriors situation. LeBron tried to form a super team, the core of the Warriors (Steph/Klay/Dray) were drafted/developed. KD joined after they already won a title. Not the same thing.

The Miami Heat went to four NBA Finals, winning two and losing two. The KD Warriors went to three, but they couldn’t get past the Toronto Raptors in the third one.
Right now, the only superteam in the league is the Brooklyn Nets, but they haven’t looked like that this campaign. Injuries have prevented fans from watching Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden play together as much as they’d like.
The Los Angeles Lakers were the last team to three-peat in the league, and it doesn’t seem like somebody will snatch that honor from their hands. The association is highly competitive right now, and it’s hard to find a team with the talent to win three consecutive NBA championships.
