DeMarcus Cousins is back in the NBA after making his debut with the Houston Rockets. Boogie was expected to be apart of the Los Angeles Lakers last season but a season-ending injury ruined all his plans. This offseason he signed with the Rockets, a team going through some situations right now but angry to win and do good things this campaign.
The Rockets beat the Chicago Bulls in their first preseason game, 124-105, and Boogie had a couple of interesting things to say. He tried to be as polite as possible but everybody is convinced his words were aimed at James Harden and the recent antics that have kept him relegated from the team.
“Man, cool feeling,” Cousins said, via ESPN. “I kind of had flashbacks to being back in college where I would get caught up kind of watching the show of John. I had a few moments tonight just trying to wait and see what he had up his sleeve next to do. It’s a really cool feeling. I’m glad I’m able to share the floor with a guy I consider my brother.”
He briefly addressed the situations going on in Houston, showing his desire that things get better from this point.
“It was a good showing for whoever’s watching, whoever’s interested as well,” Cousins said. “It shows that it’s still a really good team here, regardless of the circumstances that are floating around the team right now. It’s still a really good team in place, a lot of talent. We’re not rolling over because a few pieces are missing. We’re going to go out and perform. Hopefully, those pieces join us and we continue to improve as a team.”
This was a good message but Cousins appears to be urging the pieces missing on this team to take things seriously and give it a try with the new players. Harden finally showed up to practice alongside PJ Tucker and the Rockets appear to be hopeful that they can still be a very competitive team in the Western Conference. John Wall and Cousins showed flashes of their best versions and that’s something this team can take advantage of.
