LeBron James is one of the greatest players of all time and that should go without saying at this point in his career. However, that doesn’t mean that he’s universally loved or welcomed around the league.
As a matter of fact, some Lakers fans didn’t even want to see him wearing the purple and gold, mostly because they grew up being diehard Kobe Bryant fans and could never fathom the thought of James playing for their team.
And even though The King has done an amazing job at winning out those fans and the Lakers are on the verge of winning their 17th title in franchise history, James is well aware of the fact that none of that will matter unless he actually gets the job done.
That’s why when he was asked about the biggest lesson he’s learned from his first two seasons with the Lakers is that his résumé doesn’t matter unless he leads them to a ring:
“What I’ve learned from being a Laker is that the Laker faithful don’t give a damn about what you’ve done before… Until you’ve done it as a Laker, they don’t care,” James said.

Not many players have done what James has done, basketball-wise. He’s got an almost flawless résumé to back his case as one of the best to ever do it, yet Lakers fans are unfazed by it.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the Lakers have been star-studded for most of their history, so yeah, James, if you want to have your jersey hanging high in the rafters at the Staples Center, you better lead them to some silverware.
