Damian Lillard has paid the ultimate homage to Kobe Bryant with a brand new song that will be part of the famous NBA2K video game as a soundtrack. It’s not a secret that Dame and Kobe had mutual respect and Kobe saw a lot of him in Lillard. Lillard, known as Dame D.O.L.L.A, just dropped a track titled “Kobe.”

The song was a collaboration with legendary rapper Snoop Dogg and Derrick Milano. Lillard has only one verse in the song but he made sure to make it strong to remember all the good things Kobe taught us while he was alive.

Dame’s full verse:

“Rest in peace to the Mamba and Baby Gigi. Still remember where I was standing after the three-peat. ’Fro was lined up yelling ’Kobe!’ but playing peewee. When you know they shoot the freebie right after they tear Achilles. Killer!

“No. 8 was crazy, but 24 was scary. Respect his name or else he might show up as Bloody Mary. Won’t forget the things he mentioned, how to get a Larry. Whatever necessary, he tried to help prepare me.

“They tell us never look in the eyes of a killer. I did out of respect for the greatest at Staples Center. The closest thing to M.J. and no I ain’t talking Thriller. It ain’t an I in team but a me in it. Please remember, Bean.”

The response to my Kobe tribute track I did for #NBA2K21 has been so positive. Lots of y’all have been asking me to put it on streaming services. The wait is over. Kobe featuring @SnoopDogg and @DerrickMilano drops tonight at 9pm PT/Midnight ET on all major streaming services. 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/h9ciLEobnD

Lillard has three Rap albums under his name and he is actually very respected in the scene. Over the past few years, he’s collaborated with more and more famous rappers, including Lil Wayne and now Snoop Dogg.

Dame and Kobe appear on the cover of this year’s edition of the game. While Lillard is on the main cover, Kobe appears on the “Mamba Forever Edition”, which is the legends editions. Mad respect for Lillard. Mamba forever!
