Michael Jordan is one of the most legendary figures in the NBA, and for good reason. He’s widely viewed as the GOAT of basketball, and he is also currently the governor for the Charlotte Hornets.

One of the recent hot topics in the NBA has been the COVID-19 protocols that have been instated by the league. Of course, many people have spoken out about them. The latest person to comment on those rules is Michael Jordan, who claimed that he is in full support of the league’s COVID-19 policies when interviewed on the TODAY show. Jordan revealed that he is a “firm believer in science”, and it’s clear that he supports NBA players getting vaccinated.

"Are you concerned with the NBA's COVID protocols?"

Michael Jordan – "Not at all. I am total in unison with the league. Everybody's been speaking about the vaccinations & I'm a firm believer in science & I'm going to stick with that."

Not at all. I am total in unison with the league. Everybody’s been speaking about the vaccinations & I’m a firm believer in science & I’m going to stick with that. Hopefully everybody abides by whatever the league sets the rules. Once everybody buys in we’re gonna be fine.

There is no doubt that there has been some controversy surrounding this subject. For example, there have been concerns about Kyrie Irving’s availability to the team due to his status as an unvaccinated player. The Brooklyn Nets were reportedly “unsure” about whether they’d be willing to accommodate Irving missing 41 home games or not due to local COVID-19 guidelines in New York.

Michael Jordan is certainly a player that commands respect in the league, and him speaking in support of the league must feel like good news for commissioner Adam Silver. Jordan is respected by many due to his accolades, and we can see all of them in his amazing Zoom background in the interview. It remains to be seen whether Michael Jordan speaking out will sway anybody, but his words definitely hold some weight.
