Damian Lillard On Melo’s Huge Clutch Shot Against Rockets: “It’s More Disappointing That People Are Surprised By It.”

2 Min Read

As the Portland Trail Blazers continue their fight for the playoffs, it’s becoming abundantly clear that can make some real noise in the Western Conference.

With Zach Collins and Jusuf Nurkic healthy again, their frontcourt is back and so is their identity.

As for NBA veteran Carmelo Anthony, his resurgence has helped the Blazers turn things around this season, and in their most recent win against the Rockets, it was his three-point bucket that sealed their victory in the end.

It was another statement moment for Melo, who many were doubting could even play in the league after his stint with the Rockets ended last year. Needless to say, Melo has silenced the haters this season in Portland.

And, after Anthony’s dagger tonight, Damian Lillard made sure to let the world know it’s something he has been doing for a long time.

This season, Melo is averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game on 42.8% shooting. While those numbers may seem subpar at first glance, he’s always stepped up when the Blazers have needed him to — both on offense and on defense.

After this win today, he and the Blazers may have their chance to make history in the playoffs. It’s only a matter of time before we know for sure…
