Kendrick Perkins: ‘I Can Only Imagine What LeBron James And Kevin Durant Would Have Done To Dan Majerle In A Finals Matchup!’

Kendrick Perkins keeps taking shots at Michael Jordan and his fans while making the case for LeBron James, and somehow Kevin Durant, as bigger players than MJ. During the sixth episode of ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, we saw Jordan taking on the Charles Barkley-led Phoenix Suns with an extra motivation entering the series.

His Airness knew the Bulls general manager Jerry Krause was a fan of Dan Majerle, the guy in charge of guarding Jordan throughout the series. That was the only fuel Jordan needed and he made Majerle pay during the six games of the Finals.

“I knew (Bulls GM) Jerry Krause loved Dan Majerle, and just because Krause liked him, that was enough for me,” Jordan says of the Suns guard in the latest episode. “You think he’s a great defensive player? OK, fine. I’m gonna show you that he’s not.”

Jordan averaged 41 points through that series, 8.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He scored 246 points total in the Finals, shooting for 50% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc and 69% from the free-throw line.

That was an all-time performance by Jordan, but for Perkins, LeBron James and Kevin Durant would top that if they played against Majerle. Perks took to Twitter to try to guess what would’ve happened if instead of Jordan, KD or Bron were facing those Suns and Majerle.

“I can only imagine what LeBron James and Kevin Durant would have done to Dan Majerle in a Finals Matchup! Carry on….”

There is one person that doesn’t seem so sure about that, though, Dan Majerle. The former Suns player talked with Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta, where he called MJ the greatest player of all time due to the way he manages himself on the court and his constant desire to humiliate rivals.

“He was motivated to play well,” Majerle said. “Obviously, that three-peat was obviously something he wanted very bad. He was that type of player.

“That’s why I’m so glad this documentary has come out. Everybody talks about LeBron and Kobe, who are unbelievable, but to me, Jordan was the best player to play. When he put his mind to something and he wanted to take over a game, he did it and there wasn’t anything anybody could do.”

There you go. The guy who suffered Jordan and his anger in 1993 called him the GOAT of basketball. MJ was something else; he’s arguably the most competitive person in the world of sports, not only basketball. He was from a different kind and that’s why he’ll always be the greatest of all time.
