Heated Basketball Fan Blasts ESPN After They Use Kobe Bryant’s Death To Support LeBron’s MVP Argument

The battle for MVP this season hasn’t been very close. As a consistent force all season long, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the clear front-runner in most polls.

Recently, LeBron James has been making a push and the narrative that the King is on his way to earning his 5th MVP is stronger than ever. But how far is too far?

Some people have made some interesting remarks to give James the edge in the MVP conversation, including league analysts on ESPN’s “The Jump.” As they began discussing Bron’s performance this season, they used his age, the China controversy, and Kobe’s death as factors favoring LeBron’s case in the race.

Needless to say, it raised more than a few eyebrows.

Worse still, it wasn’t even the first time that narrative has been brought up in connection to LeBron.

The reaction from folks on Twitter was pretty brutal.

To imply that Giannis didn’t go through many of those same hardships this season is going a step too far. He was there for the China controversy the same way he was also feeling the impact of Kobe’s passing.

While James is certainly closing the gap on the award this year, it’s probably not a good idea to use the death of another legend to make a case for either player.
