The 5 Best Targets For The Sacramento Kings This Summer

The Sacramento Kings came short of the playoffs once again and were unable to put an end of their league-leading drought, but the future looks quite bright for them as Vlade Divac has done an outstanding job at building this team.

  • 5. DeAndre Jordan
  • 4. Jonas Valanciunas
  • 3. Nikola Vucevic
  • 2. Brook Lopez
  • 1. Marc Gasol

The Kings have put together quite a decent and promising young core and also have a lot of spare cash to make some noise in the free agent market, and are finally looking like a team that’s worthy of watching with De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley.

Willie Cauley-Stein has a solid season but Sacramento Kings can sign a better big man this summer. They have enough money and they should target the best available centers at this moment.

Coming off a 39-43 season and ending up at the 9th spot in the Western Conference, the Kings have nowhere to go but up next season, especially if the Warriors wind up missing the playoffs. That’s why today, we’re going to let you know about the top free agent targets they should pursue:

5. DeAndre Jordan

Los Angeles Lakers Looking To Add Center, But Knicks Say It Won’t Be DeAndre Jordan

Ok, DeAndre Jordan was used to living in California for quite some time given his spell with the Clippers, so perhaps that could play a part on his signing. Also, he’s not likely to be pursuit by contending teams this offseason.

Jordan could be a great mentor for Willie Cauley-Stein, who’s yet to step up as a dominant rim protector as expected. Also, he wouldn’t be much of an expensive choice for the Kings in free agency.

4. Jonas Valanciunas

Jonas Valanciunas

Even though Jonas Valanciunas opted out of his deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, reports claimed he had the intention of working out on a deal with the team. Still, should a franchise with playoff aspirations try to make a run at him, he’d think otherwise.

Valanciunas is great in the pick and roll and would definitely thrive with a playmaker of the likes of Fox next to him, and his presence would open up a lot of space for Hield and Bogdanovic to punish from beyond the arc.

3. Nikola Vucevic

Nikola Vucevic is likely going to ask for a lot of money during the offseason, and while the Orlando Magic may be the only team willing to meet his demands, he’d be better off with a playoff contender like the Kings.

Vucevic’s new-found stroke from beyond the arc would be a nice fit next to Bagley, who has a limited touch from three. Also, he’s a great scoring threat, and Cauley-Stein could back him up when needed of a stop.

2. Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez

The Splash Mountain found a way to take his career back from the ground following a somewhat disappointing campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers and completely proved Magic Johnson wrong for letting go of him.

Lopez is expected to resign with the Milwaukee Bucks, but the Kings could offer him way more money in the offseason while also giving him the chance to make the playoffs, so everything is possible.

1. Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol is coming off a terrific second half of the season with the Toronto Raptors and played a major part in their Championship run, but he wasn’t really needed to step up in the offensive end of the floor.

So, if Kawhi Leonard winds up leaving Canada in the offseason, he might as well leave also, and that would open up the door for the Kings to offer him the last lucrative deal of his incredible career.
