Seth Curry has joined forces with his brother Stephen Curry for the first time after signing an Exhibit-9 deal with the Warriors. While he is expected not to be on the roster at the start of the regular season, it is anticipated that he will be re-signed in November. Nonetheless, Seth Curry spoke to the Warriors media at a press conference and hilariously revealed that he already tried to buy his brother’s jersey number from him.
“I tried to buy it from him. He said he didn’t need the money,” said Curry as the crowd laughed in the room. “I don’t think the NBA would like that either,” he concluded.
It is a common practice in the league that when a new player joins the roster, they often try to buy their favorite number off a player who is already using it from before. Fortunately, Stephen Curry did not accept his request, as it would be an odd sight for the entire NBA world to see someone else wear that number instead of him.
Warriors fans are excited to see him alongside their superstar Stephen Curry, but they may have to wait until November to see the duo playing a regular-season game.
Seth Curry Addresses His Fit With Warriors And Stretched Free Agency Build-Up
Considering how the Jonathan Kuminga situation had put all other moves on hold for the Warriors, there were rumors from long ago that Seth Curry had agreed to join the Warriors but was waiting for the Kuminga deal to be finalized. Therefore, while addressing the media at the press conference, Curry also made his feelings known on how “weird” the free-agency phase was for him since they had to wait for so long to make his deal official.
“It was weird. It’s something you’ve never seen. I’ve definitely never seen it in my career. Kind of a team already knowing what they’re going to have, but not making it official for a couple of months. So, it’s weird, but we’re here now and ready to rock.”
Seth Curry went on to explain why he feels he would fit easily on the Warriors.
“For me, like my career, like I said earlier, I’ve been on a lot of different teams, different kinds of superstars, playing different styles for different coaches. So, I’ve kind of seen everything. But for me, honestly, I’ve probably watched 95% of Warriors games for the last 16 years. So, I kind of know their style. I know how they play. I just need to know the really the terminology that they use. And, I should be able to fit right in whenever they need me.”
“So, like I said, I feel like I’ve been around this organization, this team for a while. And, I feel comfortable,” said Curry in conclusion.
Seth Curry played for the Hornets in 2024-25, where he averaged 6.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists while leading the league in three-point shooting percentage while making a minimum of 82 three-point shots in the season (45.6%). Therefore, he, alongside the greatest shooter to ever play the game, Stephen Curry, would be a lethal combination for opponents to guard if the Warriors figure out the right way to use this duo together.
