The Dallas Mavericks are going to the NBA Finals after eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 124-103 win in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. The gentlemen’s sweep was completed by a starring performance from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, as fans reacted to the Mavericks surpassing expectations and going to the NBA Finals.

Fans mocked the Wolves and Anthony Edwards for trash-talking the Mavericks before the series.

Luka and Kyrie were being hailed as among the best duos we’ve seen in the NBA.

Fans are excited to see the Doncic-Irving duo in the NBA Finals.

Fans mocked everyone who questioned the fit of the Doncic-Irving duo.

Fans were left in shock by the killer instinct Luka showed with his 20-point first-quarter explosion.

Fans mocked Edwards for saying they’d be back in Game 6 of the series in Dallas.

Many fans defended Edwards after an incredible postseason run which ended at the hands of a better player.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving showcased their dominance as a duo in this game, combining for 72 points with each player putting up 36 points. Their third-highest scorer was P.J. Washington with 12 points, as the two-headed monster in their backcourt carried the offensive load.

The Timberwolves could not hang with the Mavericks as their defense flatlined, despite a strong offensive showing from Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Both players put up 28 points, but a total of 12 bench points before garbage time meant that they didn’t have the juice to keep up with the Mavs offensively.

The Mavericks Will Face The Celtics In The Finals

The Dallas Mavericks have booked a Finals berth against the Boston Celtics, with the Finals tipping off on June 6. The week off for the Mavericks will be crucial, as it gives Luka and Dereck Lively II a chance to heal up from the nagging injuries they currently have.

Mavericks vs. Celtics is one of the most compelling matchups in the NBA because of the intertwined storylines. Kyrie Irving will return to Boston while Kristaps Porzingis will be playing in Dallas once again, but both wearing different jerseys. The Celtics are considered favorites after walking through the Eastern Conference, further bolstered by the return of Porzingis for the Finals.

The Brooklyn Nets have played a role in formulating both teams, sending Kyrie to the Mavericks while sending the Celtics the draft picks which became Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. This matchup is fascinating on multiple accounts.

Doncic can cement himself as one of the all-time greats at the age of 25 if he can lead the Mavericks to a title this season.

He’s averaging 28.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists through the Playoffs, overcoming early injury woes before settling in against the Timberwolves. He averaged 32.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists against Minnesota to remind everyone he’s the best remaining player in the Playoffs.

A Finals win would also complete Kyrie Irving’s redemption arc after the star guard was maligned for his off-court issues on the Nets. He was considered a horrible asset and the Mavericks were trolled for acquiring him, but Irving can get the last laugh if he leads the Mavericks to an upset win over the Celtics in the Finals.
