Luka Doncic was seen having words with Anthony Edwards towards the end of Game 3. When asked about what exactly he said to Ant-Man, Doncic simply told the reporter that he couldn’t repeat it, with the reporter speculating that it wasn’t appropriate for TV.

Reporter: “And then in the game, what were you saying to Anthony Edwards?”

Doncic: “Oh, I can’t say.”

Reporter: “It’s not TV appropriate?”

It’s difficult to speculate on what exactly Doncic said. One can imagine it was some competitive banter between the two superstars, and it contained a lot of foul language, which is why Luka couldn’t repeat it on TV. Going by Doncic’s behavior at the end of Game 2, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was an expletive-laden piece of trash talk from him.

Doncic had words for Edwards’ teammate Rudy Gobert when he scored the game-winner over him, and then had similar energy for the crowd as well. Luka mocked Gobert during his interview with Inside The NBA, joking that he was faster than him and that’s what helped him score over him.

Doncic was absolutely spectacular once again tonight, putting up 33 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. This was one of Doncic’s best games on the defensive end of the court, as he picked up 5 steals and even had 1 block in the game. Luka did it all for the Mavericks tonight, as they are now just one win away from going to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011.

Luka Doncic Is Showing His Class In The Playoffs

Prior to the game, Luka Doncic shared a wholesome moment with Mavericks legend and his former teammate, Dirk Nowitzki, sharing a quick hug during the shootaround. Luka is looking to become a legend just like Dirk was, and he is close to achieving the same thing Nowitzki did in his career.

If Luka and the Mavericks win Game 4, they will return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011, when Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs to their one and only NBA championship win. Doncic could cement himself as a Mavs legend and the true successor to Nowitzki in Dallas by leading them to the NBA championship.

Throughout this playoff run, Doncic has stepped up his game. He is currently averaging 28.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 9.0 assists in these playoffs. His numbers in the Western Conference Finals are even better, averaging 32.7 points, 8.7 assists, and 7.7 rebounds. Doncic currently has the all-time highest points-per-game in Western Conference Finals history.

Luka and the Mavericks cannot lose sight of what needs to be done next. They are one win away from reaching the NBA Finals. However, the Timberwolves have shown that they are capable of pushing the best teams in the NBA to their limit.

Their series with the Denver Nuggets serves as the perfect example of why the Mavs cannot afford to look past them, and why they need to keep the pressure on them if they want to make the NBA Finals.
