NBA fans roasted Kuzma for failing to pull off a move that the great Kobe Bryant used.

To be fair to Kuzma, he has actually pulled it off a few times, so this wasn’t something that just came out of nowhere. This also occurred back in October in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies but went viral now for some reason. With it spreading like wildfire on social media, Kuzma noticed it too, and he defended himself.

He did get fouled, but might just have traveled before that, which the officials missed. This play, of course, was really used to great effect by Bryant back in the day.
Kobe was one of the players Kuzma idolized growing up, so it isn’t much of a surprise that he tries to do it himself. It’s just that on this occasion, it went horribly wrong.
Kyle Kuzma Responded To Nick Kyrgios Throwing Shade At Him
If it wasn’t clear, Kuzma does pay attention to what people are saying about him. Tennis star Nick Kyrgios recently wondered out loud just how on earth someone like Kuzma got a deal worth over $100 million.
“He doesn’t understand how just a moderately talented NBA player such as Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards could sign a four-year contract this summer worth $100million — nearly as much as Roger Federer earned in prize money ($130m) during his entire career.
‘He’s not even a top 50 player,’ Kyrgios said of Kuzma.”
Kuzma obviously got wind of it and had a simple message for the Australian, “Nick Kyrgios, revenue my brother.”

That’s pretty much what it is. The NBA generates a lot more revenue than tennis, which means one of the all-time greats like Roger Federer ended up earning in his career just a little bit more than what someone like Kuzma does with one deal.
Kuzma signed a four-year, $102 million deal this offseason and you certainly can’t say he hasn’t lived up to that contract. The 28-year-old is averaging 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 47.7% from the field. The Wizards have a woeful 3-20 record on this season, but that’s certainly not down to Kuzma.
Kyle Kuzma Kept It Real Regarding The Wizards’ Defense
There are quite a few reasons why the Wizards have been so bad in this 2023-24 season, but the biggest one might be their defense. They currently have a defensive rating of 121.9, which is the worst in the league. You won’t win too many games when you’re dead last and Kuzma said the Wizards’ defense can’t guard a stop sign.
“We can’t guard a stop sign. That’s kind of really what it boils down to. We let anybody get whatever they want on us. So, until we change that, then that’s probably going to be the result.”
That pretty much is what it seems like. The Wizards have now lost 15 of their last 16 games and you don’t really see light at the end of the tunnel at this point.
