A few fans joked about Durant smoking a joint. They claimed Durant relaxed like this after a tiring day at tweeting with his burner accounts.

Durant is yet to provide a comment on the video. But considering his open stance on the use of marijuana, there is no way that he’s scared of getting caught. After all, why would he smoke marijuana in public if that was the case?

Kevin Durant Says He Pushed For The NBA To Allow Marijuana

In April 2023, the new CBA revealed that the NBA has finally lifted the ban on marijuana use by players. The news was received with mixed reactions. But Kevin Durant was extremely happy after hearing the news.

So much so that Kevin Durant revealed he was one of the players who pushed for marijuana to be allowed by the NBA.

“I actually called [Adam Silver] and advocated for him to take marijuana off the banned substances list,” Durant said. “I felt like it was becoming a thing around the country and around the world. The stigma behind it wasn’t as negative as it was before. It doesn’t affect you in a negative way.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver still had his doubts about the legalization of marijuana, but he ultimately gave in to the request. Durant also revealed that he was actually high when he met the NBA commissioner.

“He smelt it when I walked in, so I didn’t really have to say much. He understood where this was going. I mean, It’s the NBA, everybody does it. It’s like wine at this point.”

Despite smoking weed, Kevin Durant never lets it impact his game. He averaged 29.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists over 47 games in the 2022-23 season. It just goes to show that if taken in a controlled quantity, marijuana isn’t that harmful.

Kevin Durant Was High During An Interview With David Letterman

There’s no doubt that many current and former NBA players use marijuana. The biggest difference is the fact that players like Kevin Durant are now talking about it more openly.

A perfect example of it was when Kevin Durant talked about the benefits of cannabis with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

But that’s not even the craziest interview that Durant has given about marijuana. In an interview with David Letterman, Kevin Durant was asked when he started smoking joints. KD revealed he was 22 years old when he first began smoking. Upon being asked if he smoked today, Durant gave an epic answer.

“I’m actually high right now,” KD boldly answered.

Durant’s answer resulted in Letterman laughing and sharing his experience with marijuana.

Either way, one thing is clear: In the coming years, the use of marijuana will become as common as drinking a glass of wine. At least, that’s what the 34-year-old has claimed in multiple interviews over the years.
