• Ben Simmons is still being attacked by fans on social media
• The Australian expressed his desire to return to his old self and dominate as the point guard for the Nets next season
• Fans don’t think Ben is going to redeem his career
Ben Simmons is looking to save his NBA career after two seasons of extreme disappointment. The former All-NBA talent had a crisis of confidence in the summer of 2021 and hasn’t recovered since. He finally seems ready to return to his old self with the Nets this year, as he told Andscape.
“For me to come back and dominate people will be great. I don’t intend to come back the same player I was last [season], because that’s not even close to where I am.”
Unfortunately, fans aren’t willing to buy into Ben’s self-confidence and are heavily mocking him on Twitter.

One fan did show some optimism, declaring a Ben comeback would mean the Nets won the infamous Simmons for James Harden trade in 2022.

Another fan said that Simmons hasn’t been a dominant player even once in his career due to his pass-first nature.
He doesn't dominate anyone though. He is pass first forward. How about you try just dominating the free throw line before other players.

Some fans want to support Ben but can’t take his words seriously until the season starts.
Rooting for him but won’t believe it till I see it!

Another fan wondered how Simmons is going to dominate when he still doesn’t have a reliable jump shot.
With no jump shot?

Simmons is coming off a terrible season by his standards, averaging 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists over 42 games. With no games played in the 2021-22 season, it’s been a long time since we saw Ben as a productive player in the NBA.
The Brooklyn Nets Need A Point Guard
Spencer Dinwiddie is a great scoring guard, but your team will never have a creative offense if he’s running as the point guard. His best performances came with the Dallas Mavericks, where he was a third-choice guard behind Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. He excelled in that role, and that’s what he should be for the Nets.
We have seen Simmons play as an influential point guard. His court vision is sensational and his size is unmatched at the position. Given how stagnant the Nets’ offense looked with Dinwiddie running the point after the Kyrie Irving trade, the team could really do with Ben’s more creative playmaking style and keep Dinwiddie focused on getting buckets.
Simmons has proven value as a floor-setting guard, and excelling in that role will be a good step toward redemption. You can’t be a point guard when you’re afraid to shoot, so hopefully, Ben can find a remedy to that situation as the Nets want to remain in playoff contention in the East.
