  • Anthony Edwards steals the show with 34 points against Germany
  • Edwards is quickly rising the ranks of NBA stardom
  • Edwards is ready to take the mantle as the next face of the league

Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was picked first in the 2018 NBA Draft, but unlike many top lottery picks, he’s actually managing to live up to expectations.

This summer, his first stint for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup, Edwards has taken over as the team’s best player and he played like it again on Sunday, when he dropped 34 points in the win over Germany.

While Edwards has already emerged as a true All-Star in Minnesota, this offseason appears to be his breakout moment. Looking unstoppable on the world stage, Edwards has answered the call and embraced the pressure put on him to deliver for the country.

Now, one by one, the fans and experts are coming to an agreement that the young stud has the potential to do something truly extraordinary.

Ladies and Gentlemen I think we may have found the FACE of the NBA,” wrote Kendrick Perkins in a tweet. “I believe his name is Anthony Edwards! Happy Sunday and Carry the hell on…”

The best thing about Edwards is not his game, it’s the competitive spirit with which he plays. Instead of running from pressure or coasting through the season, Edwards pours his heart out for each and every game and he’s willing to put in the work that’s necessary to keep himself in peak condition throughout the season.

For Edwards, his Mamba Mentality could push his career to levels rarely ever seen by athletes today, but it will all be for nothing if the Timberwolves can’t find a way to follow it up with wins.

Anthony Edwards Could Make The Timberwolves A Legitimate Threat

Despite their inconsistent play last season, the Timberwolves showed flashes of who they could be at their best. The key for this team, besides figuring out how to use Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns together, will be the development of Edwards.

If he rises to the level that some believe he can get to, nothing will be stopping Minnesota from finally making a run in the West.

Edwards, 22, averaged 24.6 points per game for the Timberwolves last season, along with 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists. As an NBA All-Star in just his third season, there is no doubt that Anthony Edward has some serious talent, and now it’s just a matter of adding enough around him to make it work.
