The Heat May Reunite Joel Embiid With Jimmy Butler Amid Ongoing Damian Lillard Trade Saga

Amid the ongoing Damian Lillard-Miami Heat, one of the recent reports doing the rounds is the possibility of the Heat reuniting Jimmy Butler with Philadelphia 76ers’ MVP Joel Embiid.

The Athletic’s Zach Harper proposed the thought in his latest column, saying a reunion could be one of the routes that Heat may look at.

“Daryl Morey is already processing Philly getting subpar value for Harden. However, a trade for Embiid (as awful as that might sound) is eased by Miami offering Bam Adebayo, a versatile four-time All-Star and two-time All-Defense selection. An Adebayo-centered trade package to reunite Butler and Embiid could be an easier pill to swallow. It would end any pursuit of Lillard due to lack of assets, but such a pursuit could also not yield Lillard at all.”

While this would seem an exciting proposition, it would mean Miami sacrificing Bam Adebayo, whom they made it clear to other teams that he was “untouchable” in trade talks along with Butler.

Meanwhile, Embiid has played his own card right in sending a subtle message to the Sixers that he will remain firm on his objective to win a championship, even if it’s outside of Philadelphia.

With that in mind, teams will possibly focus their attention on what’s happening in Philadelphia and see if they could bag the superstars.

With Harper’s theory, the ball will be in Miami’s court and it depends on whether they will choose Lillard or Embiid.

Joel Embiid Sparks Trade Rumors After His Latest Comments

Earlier, Joel Embiid sent the NBA circuit into a tizzy when he spoke of his title aspirations.

“I just want to win a championship. You know, whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s going to be, whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else. I just want to have a chance to accomplish that.”

While the New York Knicks are prime contenders to land Embiid if he does indeed choose to ask for a trade, the Heat is one of the teams who can have the big man in their ranks, though their trade package must first match what the Sixers are asking for.

This will be one wild trade if it goes down. Imagine Embiid in a Heat jersey.
