Point guard Dennis Schroder was a big reason for the Los Angeles Lakers making it to the Western Conference Finals during the playoffs. Though his offense was inconsistent, it is clear that his perimeter defense was crucial, especially during the series against the Golden State Warriors.

The Los Angeles Lakers did not end up retaining Dennis Schroder, but it seems as though at least one team thought he was valuable. A recent report from Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that he has signed with the Toronto Raptors on a two-year, $26 million deal.

The Toronto Raptors notably lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets, who signed him to a three-year, $130 million deal. Dennis Schroder can definitely be a solid option for them as the starting point guard, and he’ll have an opportunity to have a bigger role than he did with the Los Angeles Lakers.

During the 2022-23 regular season, Dennis Schroder put up 12.6 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 4.5 APG with the Los Angeles Lakers while shooting 32.9% from the 3PT range. Though his 3PT shooting is still a weakness, he is still solid when driving to the rim and shooting from the midrange area. Hopefully, we see him thrive with the Toronto Raptors.
