Victor Wembanyama is all set for his NBA journey and he oozed confidence even before taking the floor.

In a recent appearance on J.J. Redick’s podcast “The Old Man and the Three,” Wembanyama discussed his motivation to be great and successful. The 19-year-old center said that his motivation goes way beyond basketball and that he could not be stopped from achieving his objectives.

“My totem, it’s something bigger than basketball,” Wembanyama said. “It’s just accomplishing yourself inside this universe. When I need motivation, when I need energy and I feel tired out, when I need to fight on the court and it’s hard, I always remember, I’m freeing that universe. I’ll do whatever I can.”

“I know what I want to do, and nothing is gonna stop me from doing it. And I always got that in mind, and it doesn’t just stop with basketball.”

Wembanyama is all set to be drafted by the San Antonio Spurs as the No. 1 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.

This season, he averaged 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, and 2.4 APG for Metropolitans 92. All signs point to him becoming a superstar in the league and his self-assuredness marks for greatness.

Victor Wembanyama Gets Real On The Pressure Of Being Compared To LeBron James

Ever since Wembanyama has been in the spotlight, the comparisons to LeBron James have been an everyday occurrence, and while that adds to immense pressure, the Frenchman remained undeterred.

In the same podcast, JJ Redick asked him about the comparisons, to which he responded: “No pressure from that.”

It may be too soon and perhaps even premature to label Wembanyama as one of the future GOATs of basketball, but given the promise and potential that he has indeed shown, it’s safe to say that he deserves the praise. Only time will tell if he can live up to it.
