Back in the 90s, the fans had a bit of freedom to talk up or down the players, depending on who they were ardent of. And in one particular case, it was Hollywood star Samuel L. Jackson who once got Reggie Miller tossed.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jackson admitted to heckling players back in the day. Miller was one of his targets, and what comes as a surprise, he got the Indiana Pacers star ejected.
“I heckled a lot of people during that time. Reggie Miller. I got Reggie tossed out of the game once. He threw some gum and hit the referee in the back and the referee didn’t see it. And I said, ‘Hey, Reggie Miller.’ I ratted him out,” Jackson laughed. Trust Nick Fury to be devious!
That he pulled one on Miller, who was regarded as one of the most relentless trash-talkers in the NBA back then, shows that Jackson was someone who could hold his own.
Samuel L. Jackson Had Steve Kerr On His List As Well
It wasn’t just Reggie Miller. The MCU star also had Chicago Bulls star Steve Kerr on his list and took a shot at him too. In the same interview, he revealed how he trash-talked Kerr.
“Steve Kerr. I would always tell whoever was guarding him to make him dribble because he couldn’t shoot off the dribble. And he would always look around and say, ‘Yes I can. Prove it. Prove it,’” Jackson said.
Kerr isn’t someone who would stare down and talk trash to someone, but he wasn’t one to sit around and watch himself being bullied either, and his infamous skirmish with Michael Jordan proves it.
It’s still hilarious to imagine Miller throwing gum at the referee, making for a scene right out of a Looney Tunes show, but there’s no doubt that Jackson got the better of one of the greatest Clutch players of the 90s.
