The Denver Nuggets can proudly call themselves NBA champions for the first time in their franchise’s existence, as the team finally lifted the Larry O’Brien last night after a Game 5 win against the Miami Heat.

Nikola Jokic was crowned Finals MVP but didn’t seem all too intent on celebrating with champagne, botching a champagne shower, much to the delight of NBA fans on Twitter.

Eddie Gonzalez couldn’t believe how unenthusiastic Joic looked while trying to do the champagne spray.

The NBA account openly said that Jokic can dish out dimes just like he can champagne showers, despite how underwhelming this one was.

Fans continued mocking Jokic, who seemed completely unbothered by the celebrations around him.

Jokic has said in multiple interviews since the buzzer in Game 5 about going home and it seems he really is just biding his time.

Fans joked about Jokic not wanting to waste the champagne.

A fan was reminded of Damian Lillard’s failed attempts at opening a champagne bottle after winning the Gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics and needing Draymond Green’s help to open the bottle.

Jokic ended Game 5 with a stat line of 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists in a strong showing, He averaged 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists over the Finals, proving to the world he earned the honor of being the Finals MVP.

Is Nikola Jokic The Best In The World Right Now?

The conversation around the best player in the world seems to have new candidates every year. The days of LeBron James dominating this conversation are long gone, with new players being named every single season. The answer usually corresponds with the incumbent Finals MVP, so Jokic definitely has a seat at the table.

With Jokic winning regular season MVP for two consecutive seasons and losing out this year’s award narrowly to Joel Embiid, it seems the title should rest with the Serbian center for now. He has been consistently dominant over the last few seasons and finally won a title the first year his core was healthy again.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, among others, will have to fight tooth and nail next season to supplant Jokic from his throne.
