Drafting Nikola Jokic turned out to be the best decision made by the Denver Nuggets in their franchise history. The Joker recently led them to the 2023 NBA Championship.

Jokic will go down as arguably the best player to ever don the jersey of the Nuggets. A story shared by Jokic’s agent (Misko Raznatovic) is going viral. The Instagram post essentially shows a five-year-old Jokic wearing a Nuggets sweatshirt in 2000, with no clue that he will one day become a superstar of the team.

“Short story about destiny! This is Nikola Jokic, double NBA MVP, at about five years of age in his hometown of Sombor, Serbia,” Raznatovic wrote. “Back in 2000, when this photo was taken, he is wearing a Nuggets sweatshirt – not because he loved basketball or even knew about the Nuggets – but because he got it as a present. Chances of a kid from a small Serbian town having a sweatshirt from a lesser-known American team back in 2000 were minimal (unless we’re talking about famous clubs such as Lakers or Bulls).

“Chances of anyone knowing about the Nuggets in a small Serbian town were next to nothing,” he added. “But chances of that same kid growing up to play basketball and achieve his career high, win two MVP titles, and sign a historic agreement with the same club whose sweatshirt he wore at age five, were – zero.”

“It is true that winners create their own fate, make the impossible possible and write the pages of history through exceptional dedication, hard work, sacrifice, confidence, and willingness to do more than others. But sometimes, a little destiny plays a big role in the overall outcome,” he concluded.

NBA fans loved the picture and dropped several comments below the original post. Thankfully, the majority of the comments were positive.

“It’s amazing to see true destiny!” a fan wrote.

“Now he led them to their first-ever NBA title,” another fan commented.

“That is incredible. What a great photo. He is an amazing player,” a fan loved the picture.

“He was meant to be a Nuggets star. Nikola Jokic,” another fan hinted at destiny.

“Thanks for sharing this incredible picture and story,” a fan thanked Jokic’s agent.

As Jokic’s agent mentioned, he was destined to play for the Denver Nuggets. Speaking of the photo, Jokic once posed with it as well.

With the 2023 NBA Finals wrapped up, many believe it’s a start to the Denver Nuggets dynasty. After all, they have the talent to dominate the league, at least for a couple of years.

Nikola Jokic Had A Historic Playoff Run

Prior to the 2023 playoffs, many doubted Nikola Jokic’s ability to elevate his game in the postseason. The Joker clapped back at his doubters with a historic championship.

He averaged 30.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 9.5 APG. Apart from that, he became the first player in playoff history to record the most points, rebounds, and assists.

The Serbian superstar had 600 points, 269 rebounds, and 190 assists over 20 games during the playoffs. It became another jewel to the Nuggets superstar’s crown.
