Ja Morant is waiting to receive his punishment following a second gun-flashing incident last month. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has apparently already made a decision but is waiting until the end of the NBA Finals to announce it.

Many believe Silver will send a message through his punishment and will make an example out of Morant. Silver was asked by NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals on ‘NBA Countdown’ about the same. The NBA Commissioner revealed he is a little nervous about ‘sending a message.’

“I get a little nervous when people talk about sending a message,” Silver said. “Sometimes it implies that you may not be fair to that individual player. But there’s no question in this league that there’s something called ‘conduct detrimental to the league,’ and it’s not just conduct that may be negative – we want to portray a positive image in terms of our players in this league.”

Ja Morant has the potential to one day become the face of the league. So it’s no surprise that Silver wants to somewhat preserve Ja’s image before announcing his decision.

Morant is reportedly expected to miss the first half of the 2023-24 NBA season due to suspension.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Morant averaged 26.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, and 8.1 APG. He helped the Memphis Grizzlies attain a 51-31 record and finish the season as the second seed in the Western Conference.

Ja Morant’s Team Claim Gun Controversial Instagram Story Was A Toy

NBA fans are patiently waiting for more details about Ja Morant’s second gun-flashing incident. But if there’s one thing that most are certain about, it’s that Ja was holding a real gun in the clip.

However, the Memphis Grizzlies’ superstar’s team has denied that. Instead, Ja’s camp is staying firm on the fact that the gun in the viral video was a toy.

“The gun is not real, and (the relative) was playing around with it. Passed it to Ja, and that got caught on the live he had in his hand. The video was sent to Adam Silver, NBA allegedly.”

“They have it, and they said the gun looks extremely fake, like it’s obviously a toy gun. But according to my source, allegedly, Adam Silver is still gonna go through with the suspension. Looking like it should be about 30 games even though they know it as a toy gun.”

Despite the claim, Ja is still looking at about 30 games of suspension. Well, it’s certainly better than being sidelined for half a season.
